Lennon Michalski creates work that is offensive in all the right ways. He does not give the viewer what they want to see- and yet his work is gorgeous. I cannot even attempt to understand what is going though his head- or what has inspired such paintings- but I love them. His are the paintings you want to see from far away- cause they read like a Turner painting- dramatic and tumultuous. Up close you get all sorts of fun detail- Seuss-like imagery, and a texture that is stunning in its layered, resin-like complexity.
